Author Biography

Robert J. Art is the Christain A. Herter Professor of International Relations, Emeritus, Brandeis University. In 2006 he was given the Distinguished Scholar Award by the International Security section of the International Studies Association. Timothy Crawford is professor of political science at Boston College. His most recent book is The Power to Divide: Wedge Strategies in Great Power Competition (Cornell University Press, 2021). Robert Jervis was Adlai E. Stevenson Professor of International Affairs at Columbia University; he was a former president of the American Political Science Association.
