We were armed with a few old car traveler type guidebooks, a chart, and not much cash. Nearly two decades, five sailboats and two powerboats later and after calling three local communities our homeaway base, I decided to write a guidebook.

The first travel guide, published in 2014 is primarily for boaters, but this one, to be published in 2017 is for all travelers. My intention with both books was not to write flowery prose selling the islands, but address basic first time visitor needs and fill in the local knowledge gaps so prevalent when you are from out of town.

This book is big at 8.5 x 11 on purpose, the easy to read large garish labels plastered across the maps and charts are regrettably unattractive, but they are to help readers make plans and keep oriented not win accolades.

I invite you to visit my website www.sailingthesanjuans.com (an ongoing work) Hopefully you will enjoy articles, see color pictures, plus lots more.

The website has e-mail and comment areas. Feel free to write if you have a question. I look forward to hearing from you, or even saying hello somewhere in the San Juans.
John

Number of Pages: 170

Dimensions: 0.36 x 11.02 x 8.5 IN

Publication Date: January 17, 2017

https://booksby.splitshops.com/products/san-juan-islands-travel-guide-a-land-and-sea-guidebook-paperback
