Eisler stages her newest film in Los Angeles' Biltmore Hotel, where her subject Hanns Eisler was brought before HUAC
Veronika Eberhart's newest film focuses on Hanns Eisler, composer of the GDR's national anthem, and his exile in Los Angeles from 1938 to 1948. In 1947, Eisler was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee, and a year later he and his wife were deported from the US.
