In these tankas, dirtysacred explores the Spring and all of it's facets internal and external. The tanka, a classical Japanese poetry form, is an ideal form to examine these ideas; but like in his chapbook, GOD'S TIRED PLUMBERS, these tanka -- traditionally understood in English as a 31 syllable style -- aren't your elementary school teacher's tanka. He examines the form itself as he examines the Spring: with lightness and focus.
