Author Biography

Mike Ligon is a native of Oklahoma and a former Marine. After returning from Vietnam he obtained a Criminal Justice degree from Brigham Young University, attended graduate school at Cal. State L.A. and obtained his Master's degree in Public Administration from Webster University while stationed at Ft. Bragg. N.C. He served as an enlisted weapons and communications specialist on an operational detachment with 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) and as a detachment commander in 7th Special Forces Group(ABN). Upon branch transferring to military intelligence he served in a variety of assignments as a 35D intelligence analyst and 35E counterintelligence offi cer in multiple Special Forces assignments. Mike retired from the U.S. army in 1996 and Customs & Border Protection in 2006. He is considered a subject matter expert on counterinsurgency and taught extensively at the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School, Ft. Huachuca, AZ. He is the author of "LIC, Counter-narcotics and Small-Scale Agriculture"; "How the U.S. Can Win the Drug War"; "Immigration Field Interviews: A Guide for Law Enforcement" and a frequent contributor to the INTELST Forum.
