Author Biography

Milagros Phillips, author of 8 ESSENTIALS TO A RACE CONVERSATION and 11 REASONS TO BECOME RACE LITERATE: A pocket guide to a new conversation, specializes in transforming relationships between people of different backgrounds, by using a powerful approach that leaves participants empowered and hopeful. Her program, RACE DEMYSTIFIED: A COMPASSIONATE APPROACH TO THE HEALING OF AMERICA has been presented for more than 15 years to Fortune 100 Companies, colleges, universities and communities throughout the US. She created UNTOLD HISTORY TOURS in 2015, a family friendly way to experience Washington DC history. Milagros was the Founding Executive Director of "The National Resource Center for the Healing of Racism." She has served as Expert in Residence for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Michigan State University uses her part of her model to train their diversity facilitators. The Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) includes Race Demystified, as part of their certification curriculum. Between 2002 and 2004 Milagros trained over one thousand employees, executive staff and board members at a Fortune 100 Insurance Company. She has lectured in the US, Mexico and Europe, has over 25 years of facilitation experience, and is fluent in Spanish. Milagros developed the three part approach that became the foundation for Congressional Conversations on Race (CCR) as well as co-facilitated the program for three years. This assisted national leaders in crafting a productive conversation about Race in America, leading to community action and collaboration. Milagros develops and facilitates customized seminars and programs for the private and corporate sectors.
