Author Biography
Richard Elkins grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, a city known for seeding the best of African American talent in its mean streets. At the early age of five, Richard himself was enticed into Karmamu House, the famed community cultural centre, on 38th & Quincy with milk and cookies. With that first step into the world of theatre, Richard was hooked. In 1959, a move to Hollywood was in order. Here, Richard stepped into a promising career as a theatre, film and television actor/producer/director, intermingling with the world's greatest talents. Richard obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Antioch University at Los Angeles. He also achieve Undergraduate studies at Los Angeles City College in Drama and Speech in 1960-196, where he served as a student teacher and speech coach working with speech impediments and techniques. Here he collaborated on a book by Dr. Hal Bargelt called, "Four Steps to Better Pronunciation." Richard then became confident to be a writer and author of this very book, "80 and Loving It'.
