A coming-of-age story about a boy who spent his childhood in the bucolic woodlands of northern Indiana but was uprooted into turbulent southern California of the 1960's. His brother was a biker and lived in a house that was involved with drugs and violence. Spending time on a University of California campus, he became involved in the anti-war movement and attended a huge rally in San Francisco. He returned to reunite with his father and engaged with mentally challenged men on the state highway department. He then worked in aerospace and is party to a practical joke that has unforeseen consequences.
