A Prison Chaplain's Ministry
Behind the high walls and locked gates of correctional institutions lies a hidden world of pain, regret, and longing for redemption. In A Prison Chaplain's Ministry: Behind Bars and Beyond, Dr. Maxwell Shimba takes readers deep into this often-overlooked mission field, revealing the sacred calling of those who bring hope where despair seems to reign. Drawing from theological insight, historical foundations, and real-life ministry experience, this book explores the unique role of prison chaplains as spiritual guides, counselors, advocates, and agents of transformation within the justice system.
Through powerful reflections on daily life behind bars, interfaith ministry, rehabilitation, restorative justice, and the holistic care of body, mind, and soul, Dr. Shimba demonstrates how faith can reshape broken lives and restore human dignity. This compelling work offers an inspiring vision of compassion in action and challenges readers to see incarceration not only as punishment but as an opportunity for healing, growth, and redemption that reaches far beyond prison walls.
