Author Biography
Dustin Juliano (7 September 1980) is an independent researcher and entrepreneur working in the field of artificial intelligence. He formulated a mathematical conjecture for generalizing intelligence based on the requirement for digital sentience, which he has termed the new strong AI hypothesis. The theory is falsifiable and can be used to discriminate between general machine learning systems and generalizing intelligence proper. He founded the AI Security movement (http: //aisecurity.org) in response to growing sensationalism, fear, and misinformation about the future impacts of artificial intelligence on humanity, which he believes to be both unavoidable and broadly positive, for prepared societies. He has a background in aviation electronics and is a life-long computer programmer. A dedicated GNU/Linux user, he advocates free and open-source software and hardware, and believes it is ethically imperative that advanced artificial intelligence is developed entirely on free software principles in a fully decentralized way. An occasional writer, he has also published science fiction.
