The master of the home is involved in the rebellion and he is deeply patriotic. Thelma plays her role. She cooks, cleans, babysits her master's daughter but after hours she learns to read and write and she becomes a voracious reader. Eventually, the two concepts clash; freedom and love. Will Thelma leave France, a non-slavery country, to travel back to America, a slave dependent country, to be with master or will she stay?
