"There was something very familiar about that chest. It had a solid iron lock on it.
I bent forward. It wasn't locked.
The carving on the side of the chest drew me in, so I pushed the velvet blanket further up the top. I reached out to touch the carving of two people. Their hands were reaching out toward each other but weren't touching. I didn't know why, but as I drew closer, I was overwhelmed by despair.
As soon as I touched the chest, an electrical jolt hit me and it knocked me backward. I groaned as I hit the floor. Shaking my head, I looked up at the night sky.

Petra van der Ploeg (1978) describes herself as a writer, a dreamer and a hopeless romantic. She lives with her family of three cats Minoes, Kayla and Jip in the Netherlands. Her main character is always someone whom she relates to tremendously, making her story both very personal and appealing.
