by Deanna McRae (Illustrator), Karen a. Gasperini (Author)
Five-year-old disabled girl Arianna uses her leg braces (AFOs) and sneakers along with her imagination to go on adventures. All she has to do is close her eyes and stomp three times and say "Away we go" and the adventure begins.
Karen is the author of "Arianna's Magic Boots series," They're based on Karen's daughter Arianna and herself. Karen and her daughter both have BEALS Syndrome, severe scoliosis, anxiety, asthma, and club feet. They don't let their disabilities stop them from dreaming and pushing to reach their goals. Growing up Karen and Arianna wore leg braces to help with their clubfeet. One of their favorite things to do when wearing their leg braces (AFOs) was using their imagination to go on adventures. Karen encourages children to follow their heart and don't let anyone or anything stop them from being who they truly are. Karen resides in Rhode Island with her family.
