Author Biography
Matt Dukes Jordan is a long-time Los Angeles resident and the author of WEIRDO DELUXE: THE WILD WORLD OF POP SURREALISM AND LOWBROW ART, Chronicle Books, SF, 2005. He is a published poet and short story author and has written novels and screenplays and plays. He's read his poetry on stage, done stand-up comedy, and made films. He has been a journalist since 1990. His work has appeared in many publications including the MIAMI NEW TIMES, PLAYBOY ONLINE, METRO LA, COAGULA, VENICE magazine, and more. He has lived in many parts of LA and knows the city very well. He lived within blocks of one of Bukowski's pads (the one on Mariposa) in two apartments he rented, so he knows East Hollywood well. He has visited many of Bukowski's places in LA and has also interviewed Bukowski's friends for this book. And he's friends with Neeli Cherkovski, one of Bukowski's best friends.
