by Elizabeth Mordensky (Author)

"Can I Spend the Winter with You?" is a story of a young black bear who doesn't want to hibernate. He searches for a friend to join during the winter, but soon learns that the other animals each have adaptations that help them survive, when the world turns cold. Join the bear in his search, and see how many animals you can spot along the way.

Author Biography

Elizabeth Mordensky is landscape and wildlife artist, who has always been inspired by her love for nature. She grew up in Virginia and spent her childhood summers visiting National Parks across the United States. This led her to pursue a degree in Environmental Sciences and eventually work in nature interpretation at several public lands parks, including Baxter State Park, ME and Yellowstone National Park. All the while, her art has been her passion. She loves exposing people, young and old, to nature through her paintings, and now children's picture books. Elizabeth also illustrated Deanna Anderson's "Kikir of the Walking Trees," a book dedicated to exposing young children to ideas of environmental preservation. Like "Kikir of the Walking Trees," "Can I Spend the Winter with You?" aims to present environmental concepts to children in an engaging storybook format.
