Author Biography
Mark Strand (April 11, 1934 - November 29, 2014) was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and was raised and educated in the United States. He is also the author of numerous books of poetry, a book of stories, several volumes of translations, a number of anthologies, and two monographs on contemporary artists. He has received many honors and grants, including the MacArthur Fellowship, and in 1990 he was chosen as Poet Laureate of the United States. In 1999 he received a Pulitzer Prize for Blizzard of One.
