Cowboy Cops is a factual fast-paced story of a violent crew who kidnapped successful drug dealers from the Harlem area of New York City.
The five-member crew posing as police would 'arrest' successful drug dealers with the purpose of holding them for ransom. Law enforcement themselves dubbed the crew the Cowboy Cops when informants confirmed the rumors of arrests circulating on the streets of Harlem were true.

The theory would prove true that the police wouldn't care too much concerning gangster on gangster crime. A small investigation unit was formed early on, but it was only after a murder, possibly committed by the police imposters, the investigation went into high gear.
