by Marta Acosta (Author)
An unexpected invitation to attend an elite academy. A cottage of her own. An elegant family eager to welcome her. For foster teen Jane Williams, Birch Grove seems like an escape from everything she's survived.
Determined and watchful, Jane has spent her life navigating violence and poverty. At prestigious Birch Grove Academy, she's suddenly among brilliant students, with access to exceptional classes, an allowance, and a private cottage within the shadowed birch grove. She even earns money tutoring the headmistress's gorgeous son, Lucien, while his enigmatic older brother, Jack, keeps her constantly on edge.
But as Jane is drawn deeper into this beautiful, secluded world, she begins to wonder what happened to a scholarship student who abruptly left-and whether Birch Grove holds more dangers than the gritty streets she fled.
