This is what caused my mother's feelings of insecurity about herself and their situation.

I learned from my dad that I was not good enough, that I was not worthy, and that I was a secret. He taught me that I was second best, and I was not valuable. Why else would my dad keep me hidden from everyone he knew? A father should be the first man that a girl loves. He will be the first man to impact his daughter's ability to love, trust and relate well to the males in her life. The impact that a father has on his daughter's life is detrimental to the development of her life as a child, teenager, and well into her adult life.

This book shares experiences of women in various age groups of how an absent father impacted their childhood and adult lives. Some experienced a journey of healing and restoration, while others are still working through their pain.
