Hunter J. Patrick would rather die than hidethe truth from view. He was a First Amendmentwarrior who found himself in a battle with corruptforces intent upon shaping the world to fit theirown personal needs. It was the mid-1980's, a timewhen newspapers grinded out story after story aboutthe people and events of their communities. Stories ofcrimes, courts, government and business dealingswere regular fare in most newspapers. Hunter J. Patrick, top editor of the Baytown Daily Tribune, believed intelling the community the truth about itself. If you were"in the news" in Baytown, you were treated the same aseveryone else, a simple rule that put Hunter in conflictwith some rich and powerful Baytown citizens. It was a wicked confrontation and Hunter refused to back down. He'd be damned if he'd let the truth be replacedby lies during his watch.
