The bootlegging operation in Northern California is producing fine liquor while undercutting the competition and avoiding government taxes. So Purvis sends a couple of his Treasury Department agents undercover to see what they can find out about it. One of the agents ends up shot to death, mistaken as a burglar. He was Konrad Jensen's partner.

Now it's Jensen's mission to bring the bootleggers down. So posing as a private detective he starts asking questions. The man who shot his partner says he was just following orders. But Jensen knows his partner was on to something. And now Jensen finds himself tossed in jail on a murder rap-with no chance of being able to reveal his identity!
