Elevator Man Stories is a collection of funny, colorful and serious memories of working the past 40 years in the elevator trade. Our industry now has a pretty accurate recollection of what it was like back in the 1960's, 70's and 80's. It was a different time working on equipment that required a high level of expertise. A must read for any tradesman, especially if you're in the elevator industry "I loved reading this book and couldn't put it down. Some of the stories were hilarious I was sad when I finished, wanting to hear more about working in the trade. I've also got a whole new respect for elevator mechanics and the dangers of working the field. - Tom Sybert - Elevator Radio Show" A perfect gift for the person who has everything

Author Biography

The best part of all my years in the Business was the people I worked for, around and with. While still in high school, I started working part time as a junior draftsman for Haughton Elevator Company in Glendale, California in the early 1960s. I left the office and became a construction helper for the same company. I was drafted in 1965 and served two years in the US Army. After returning from the Army I went back to work for Haughton. I worked many jobs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and finally ended up in San Diego. In San Diego I worked for Haughton, Montgomery, Westinghouse and back to Haughton again. In the early 1970's I turned out as a mechanic and then as an adjuster. I adjusted for Haughton in San Diego and Los Angeles. I left San Diego in 1980 for Seattle to take a job as a Service Superintendent. After two years I hired on with US as the Repair/Construction Manager. Missing the field, it was back to Haughton for Mod work all over the Pacific Northwest. The company sent me to Sacramento for a large job. After leaving Schindler- Haughton I worked for Keystone and then Reliable in Los Angeles and back to Sacramento. I hit the bench for awhile until "The Elevator Gods Smiled upon Me" and I was offered a job in Monterey, California as an LR for Tri County Elevator. I worked for Tri County for twelve years and retired in 2000. The last job with Tri County was the best job I ever had along with the best boss, "Harold", I ever worked for. After 40 years in the business and a member of Locals 8, 18 and 19, I am now happily retired in Monterey, California with my charming, beautiful wife, "Patti", a Chihuahua named "Belle" and a strange looking cat known as "Kitty".
