Author Jawan Burwell, EdD, addresses the barriers that prevent many fathers--particularly Black and other fathers of color--from participating fully in early childhood programs. Drawing on research and the author's direct experience, this book provides educators with actionable strategies to create more inclusive classrooms and foster authentic partnerships with fathers. With a focus on practical implementation, Burwell highlights the importance of understanding family dynamics, challenging societal assumptions, and reshaping engagement practices to reach all caregivers.

Discover how to:

  • Identify and dismantle common barriers to father engagement
  • Build inclusive family-engagement practices that value children's important adults
  • Connect father participation to improved child outcomes
  • Create welcoming classroom environments for fathers of all backgrounds
