by J. Saravia (Author)
In Jessica Saravia's debut poetry collection, Euthanasia explores trauma and suicidality in three distinct parts of the poets' life that ends with hope for the future. She creates a poetry timeline that depicts her journey through a difficult childhood, insecure teenage years, trying to find her identity, carrying the pain through adulthood, and finally finding her way to healing. Exploring recovery and reflection, the book takes readers on a journey from childhood to now. Part I: Pre-Funeral begins this journey from the authors' childhood up to early teenage years, marking the beginning of her descent into darkness. Part II: Burial is the descent itself, raw and unfiltered, and the bulk of the book that deals with death and inexperience in coping with trauma from the past. Part III: Resurrection offers a realistic, hopeful outlook on the remainder of the authors' life after many years of writing and care. This work does not seek to glorify nor condemn suicidal ideation, death or euthanasia, rather to investigate why anyone would consider death to be the only alternative to a painful life. Included at the beginning of this collection is a playlist as an auditory accompaniment to the words on the page. The end of the collection also offers resources, to ensure that readers feel supported and to know that there will always be others there to catch them, no matter how hard they may fall.

A small yet very thoughtful devotional book. A beautiful way to promote seeing God everyday in everything.
