This history traces the evolution of the armaments and fortifications that came under the command of Fort MacArthur, with a focus on those that dotted the coastal hillsides of the Palos Verdes Peninsula and San Pedro, California. It also provides precise locations of the remnants of these fortifications to help readers explore for themselves. This 4th edition corrects minor errors, provides additional information on many of the weapons described, especially the Nike Hercules missile, and includes new photographs and drawings throughout. The Absaroka incident material has been expanded and the Battle of Los Angeles has been added.
