FreedomCivics was developed by a team of teachers and historians for the Freedom Education

Foundation (FEF) to provide an accurate history of the founding of the United States of America,

with a focus on the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Northwest Ordinance

of 1787, and the U.S. Constitution. The 20-session civics course includes history of the American colonies,

the Revolutionary War, free enterprise, and a balanced portrayal of American history. Recognizing the

problems of slavery and poor treatment and denial of civil rights of many, it also addresses the efforts of the

Founders and our forefathers to work for "a more perfect union" by passing new laws and amending the

Constitution. It concludes with examples of contemporary challenges to the Constitution and to encourage

students to be good citizens and protect the rights it guarantees. There are two workbooks for the

FreedomCivics course, a Student Workbook and a Teacher Workbook. The two workbooks are identical

except that the Teacher Workbook includes the 50 minute Lesson Plans, the answers to activities and

quizzes, and additional resources.
