I left Sicily in 1947 when I was thirteen years old with my mother, Marina and my sister, Cira. We were the first family to fly out of my home town of Marineo. Thirty hours later we landed in New York City. None of us spoke a word of English at that time. After leaving New Jersey in 1974 I relocated to Sarasota, Florida where I worked on St. Armands' Circle at Jack Tafeen's store for thirty years.
