Wearing a wedding dress, a woman is found dead of a slashed throat in a cabin at The Pines resort. A bridal shop tag for the dress bears the name Royce Thorne. But the resort's security chief recognizes the dead woman as Lucianne Granite, divorced wife of Fall Creek Police Chief Jared Granite. A Creek County detective interrogates Royce, engaged to marry the Chief in two weeks. The detective disappears after the lab finds Lucianne was also poisoned and would have died soon anyway. Royce cancels the wedding, but she and the Chief reconcile. The missing detective's past and links to other Fall Creek residents as well as Lucianne's greedy sister, and a local news anchor, reveal twisted motives which lead to violence in the hospital ER before a killer is taken down.
