After his elder brother disappears, Dagobert Waller seeks brotherhood in Gamma Alpha Gamma, Louisiana's most storied black fraternity. Coined D.W. Read by the older brothers, Dagobert makes an enemy out of them and finds pledging difficult due to his top-dawg mentality. During his pledging process, Dagobert is kidnapped by a racist organization known as the White Dragon. The group subjects Waller to months of experimentation involving a radiotrophic fungus, allowing him to wield gamma radiation. After he escapes, Dagobert learns Morris is still alive and being held by the White Dragon in a remote location. Alongside his pledge brothers and love interest, Nakia, Alongside his pledge brothers and love interest, Nakia, Dago must use his new powers to find his older brother. Our hero must overcome high-tech racists, politicians, his own weaknesses of pride and lust to obtain what he's always longed for, brotherhood.
