Tacitus was a Roman senator and historian. Tactitus' major works were The Annals and The Histories which covered the Roman Empire from 14 AD - 70 AD. Tacitus also wrote a biography on his father-in-law Gnaeus Julius Agricola who was a Roman general during the conquest of Britain. The short book Germania is an ethnographic work describing the lands, laws and culture of the Germanic people.
