This book is about life on Gray's Creek, a tidal creek that parallels Whitemarsh Island in Savannah, Georgia. It is an inventory, utilizing some of the established natural sciences to identify this as a typical developed Georgia coastal creek. The inhabitants are human and hundreds of birds and a multitude of marine life that share common ground for survival. This is also an inventory of our neighbors who live here, those ornithological mysteries, an ecology survey, the marsh fauna, the abounding marine life, and notes on soils and coastal geology. An appendix describes a layer of brown cemented soil that exists in the banks of Gray's Creek, often interpreted as hardpan. This book is about the living, of all natural things along Gray's Creek.
