Our hearts and heart songs matter. This book is my effort to share my story and mottos that have guided me in my educational practice - and in my life. But beyond that, it's also an effort to connect, Heart to Heart, with the stories/heart songs, strategies and successes of others that I respect and admire. In each of these chapters, you will find my original "From Heart " story, a "To Heart" narrative or story from my son, Hayden Poer, followed by stories from educators, friends and colleagues. Each chapter concludes with a series of questions for reflection and this is where you come in: Long-term, my vision for this book is that the stories and heart songs continue. The authors in this book have taken those scary first steps - sharing their heart and heart songs and how stories shape the work that they do - in the hopes that you, too, will share your stories and heart songs. We hope that these heart songs serve to uplift you and to challenge your work. May the stories - and the people and inspiration that they represent - continue ....
