Heat is a result of the motion of atoms and molecules, which are vibrating faster in an object that feels warm than in an object that feels cool. Heat is not a thing but an action. The faster atoms and molecules "wiggle" the warmer an object will feel. The more slowly they are vibrating, the cooler the object will feel. The rate of motion of atoms and molecules can be transferred as they bump into each other, causing events such as the melting of ice in your hand.
