At the beginning of the story we find Hobbledy Gobbledy's day starting off a bit glum as he watches his friends out playing with all their new toys...he wishes he could have new stuff too. His father takes him aside, sits him down, and reminds him of all that he has to be thankful for and challenges him to imagine what his world would be like if all that he had disappeared.
