Since the publication of With Passion and Compassion: Third World Women Doing Theology in 1988, a new generation of feminist theologians has arisen from Africa, Asia, and Latin America that has produced numerous writings in books, academic journals, and grassroots magazines. Women theologians around the world, including the voices of indigenous women, have responded to their changing world with critical theological insights and social analyses. This new reader includes eighteen reflections by women theologians who face daily poverty, violence, civil strife, war, and cultural alienation, yet who find abundant hope through their faith. Author Biography

Kwok Pui-lan, from Hong Kong, is the William F. Cole Professor of Christian Theology and Spirituality at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has published extensively in Asian feminist theology, biblical interpretation, and postcolonial theology. Writing in both Chinese and English, she is the author of Discovering the Bible in the Non-Biblical World (Orbis, 1995) and the editor of Women and Christianity, a four-volume reference work.
