There is no attempt or desire to present a worldly or secular approach to counseling. We want to know how would Jesus counsel in a given situation. The Bible is God's counseling manual; it "provides us with all things that pertain to life and godliness" (1 Peter 1:3). This book may also be used to counsel self with sound biblical principles.
