We can all easily agree that there is something inherently special and peculiar in us, humans; that we are not like any other creature or animal. Beyond this point, though, agreement breaks down. Disagreement starts as soon as people discuss that which makes humans stand out: is it the soul, reason, intellect, body, the what? Is it inside or outside of man? What makes the human person special in comparison to all the other known creatures? These are some of the questions that we seek to answer in this book. We want our reader to understand both the theory and the reality on the ground about the dignity of the human person. We want to bridge the gap between the theory and the reality. The reader will be able to understand what Human Dignity is all about; understand the relevancy of human dignity; learn to respect their own dignity and that of others; and learn to identify the abuses of human dignity in the world.
