Author Biography
Winner of the Pura Belpré Award for her middle grade series, Juana & Lucas (Candlewick Press), Juana Medina has had her charming, sensitive artwork has been likened to that of illustrators such as Sempé and Jules Feiffer. Juana has been honored as one of "100 Colombianos," a project that celebrates the most successful Colombians living abroad, and has received recognition from the National Cartoonists Society, the National Headliner Award, the International Latino Book Awards, and Ridgway Award honors, among other honors. A graduate of RISD, where she has also taught, she now lives in the DC area, with her wife and twin sons.
