by Jennifer Crafton (Illustrator), Holly Jones (Author)

1990 was supposed to be the best year ever ...or so small-town sixth-grader Violet Karchefski had planned-but then boys (barf ) came into the picture and ruined everything. Can her friendship with BFF Sara come back from the brink after a boyfriend wedges himself between them? Will it survive Violet's obsession with Sara's older brother? A near kidnapping, family drama, temporary amnesia, some seriously backstabbing gossip and the unforgettable scent of Eternity for Men-Violet has her work cut out for her if she's going to make everybody like her before the end of the year when middle school promises to bust it all apart. I Want Everybody To Like Me is the first in a series of uplifting, young adult coming-of-age throwbacks to the beginning of the last, most totally rad decade-when disks were floppy, phones plugged into the wall, jeans were pegged, neon was king, and a mixtape recorded off the radio was the ultimate way to show how much you cared.

Author Biography

Holly Jones is a wife of one and mother of three who was raised in and inspired by her childhood in the small town of Washougal, Washington, located northeast of Portland, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge. Holly holds a B.A. in English and a Professional Writing Certification from Washington State University and spent her early career in television broadcasting, producing Emmy-nominated local promotions and programming in Spokane, Washington. She also did time as an advertising copywriter before returning to her roots, writing jokes for radio, articles for the local newspaper, and made-up, far-fetched stories (her true passion, modeled after her hero, Garrison Keillor). At the time this story was written, Holly was on staff and studying physics at Gonzaga University. She hopes very much that you like her.
