In 1917, a 'Lady' was said to have appeared to children at F tima, Lucia Santos age 10, and her cousins Francisco Marto age 8 (retarded) and Jacinta Marto age 7 who are known as 'the F tima seers'. As Lucia told reporters:
"Only I am brave enough to hear the 'Lady'"
The events were witnessed by crowds. All anyone saw was a little girl talking to the air. After each vision, Lucia would relate the 'Lady's' message to reporters.
F tima faded into obscurity until a pope was searching for a supernatural event to authenticate a political goal.
