by Marty Weinstein (Author), Bob Wyrick (Author)

Josh Halliwick is a young man saddled with delusions and plagued by imaginary voices that try to control his mind. But in Zigmora Mental Hospital, he is forced to conquer these drawbacks in order to rescue a paralyzed patient who is near death because of unspeakable abuse by the hospital staff. Despite its serious subjects, the book has uproarious moments as the story of the well intentioned Halliwick unfolds.

Author Biography

Coauthors Weinstein and Wyrick have concocted a most original novel about schizophrenia. Wyrick, who is the writer on the team, retired from Newsday's Washington Bureau after 15 years as a prize winning journalist. His coauthor is Martin Weinstein, a schizophrenic, who is the inspiration and "soul" of this novel. He controls his illness with the help of his doctor and is a functioning member of society. Both Wyrick and Weinstein reside in Portland, Oregon. Wyrick lives with his wife of 29 years, Catherine Wood Wyrick. Weinstein, a bachelor, lives with a kitten named Oliver.
