by Karl Joseph Eckstein (Author)

The vast and mysterious Okefenokee Swamp of Southern Georgia covers an area of 700 square miles of mostly unexplored territory. Throughout the years, it has been the source of numerous strange stories and tales. Both Indians and early settlers to this area spoke about confrontations with huge bi-pedal hominids that reside in the Okefenokee. Some people believe they still live there. The locals call them Swamp Apes or Skunk Apes. The stories in this book span a time period of almost 1,000 years. They are works of fiction, however, they are all based on historical facts and on recorded stories involving this legendary beast that was known by the ancient Indians as ka-ahn-chu-ka.

Author Biography

Karl Joseph Eckstein is the author of several science-fiction and action adventure books that have the legendary creature known as Sasquatch or Bigfoot woven into his story lines. After completing a four year tour of duty in the U.S. Marines, Karl and his wife have spent many enjoyable hours traveling throughout the United States. Together they have climbed mountains, walked through the ruins of ancient Mayan cities, climbed up to the abandoned cliff dwellings of the Anasazi Indians, visited striking underground caverns, and hiked through sections of the Appalachians. After moving to south Florida, they explored large areas of the Everglades, and canoed through alligator infested waters of lakes and swamplands. They now reside in Northern Florida, within a few minutes drive to the hiking trails and waterways of the Okefenokee. Karl's stories are works of fiction, however, they are usually located in actual settings. He spends untold hours doing research to back up his stories with historical facts. Along with these facts, he often taps into his own personal experiences when writing his books.
