by Samuel Western (Author)
Theodore Lundquist is enjoying his retirement in Arizona, more or less. A nagging conscience won't let him forget an ugly blunder committed 50 years ago. While an officer in occupied Japan, he stole a rare samurai sword from Noriko Shibusawa, an eccentric beauty, as revenge for her ending their relationship. Lundquist also realizes that he hasn't fully come to term with how his older brother, Peter, died at the hands of the Japanese. Lundquist discovers Noriko is still alive. She agrees to meet him. Yet first he must acquire Japan's consent to return the sword. In a room in old Kyoto, this permission process takes unexpected turns. An aging sword expert has information on Peter's death. The reunion with Noriko does not follow Lundquist's projected script, either. Yet, in the end, Lundquist returns home, obligations fulfilled and no longer haunted

A small yet very thoughtful devotional book. A beautiful way to promote seeing God everyday in everything.
