Lexy has lots of ideas. She has ideas about shoes, acorns, spelling tests, and fixing a vacuum cleaner. She is clever, but she needs special instruction for reading and spelling. You see Lexy thinks differently.

Like Lexy, nearly 20 percent of our population has dyslexia. Many of them are famous, including the ones listed at the back of this book. So if your child struggles with reading and spelling, please don't miss the Introduction and Parent Notes

Lexy will tickle the hearts of you and your child, and she just may ease your mind. She is for reference as well as entertainment. Lexy is dyslexia

Author Biography

Kristi Davis is a reading and spelling tutor specializing in dyslexia. In 2003, she left her career in CAD, computer-aided drafting, support and IT to homeschool her daughter. Saddened that she was unable to teach her daughter to read and spell beyond consonant-vowel-consonant words, she went on a quest to figure out why. The family optometrist was the first person to mention the word dyslexia. After much research about dyslexia and trying many ineffective reading programs, Kristi found something that worked. It was the Barton Reading & Spelling System, a method based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. Her daughter's progress was so impressive that Kristi began tutoring others.

Hoping to save other parents from spending years searching for an answer to the question "Why can't my child read?," Kristi wrote Lexy. Lexy is a creation inspired by her own daughter and is a fun story for any child. But Lexy is aimed at a larger audience. With Lexy, Kristi reaches out to parents and educators by sharing the early warning signs of dyslexia.

If parents and educators recognize these early warning signs, they can implement the proper method of instruction, based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, before the dyslexia becomes more than just a reading and spelling issue.

Academic failure can be prevented. This is the mission of Lexy.

Kristi Davis is certified at the Masters Level in the Barton Reading & Spelling System and continues to tutor from her Wilmington, DE, residence. You can find her here: On the web: http: //www.KristiDavis.org Twitter: @Kristi_Author Email: KristiDavistutor@icloud.com
