The reader will probably come to the conclusion that Lutheranism is itself in great peril. And it is. the conservative, confessional Lutheran bodies comprise the last outpost of orhodox Lutheranism in America, and considerably so also on the world scene of Lutheranism. Perhaps the reader may even recognize in this volume the call to Lutherans to move away from neo-Lutheranism and modernism and return to sound, scriptural orthodoxy, both in teaching and in polity.
