Author Biography
Kathy Tuchman Glass consults nationally with schools and districts, presents at conferences, and teaches seminars for university and county programs delivering customized professional development. A former master teacher, she has been in education for over twenty years and works with administrators and teachers in groups of varying sizes from one-on-one to entire school districts, from kindergarten through high school. She leads and collaborates with educators to assist with strategic planning to determine school or district objectives; design standards-based differentiated curriculum; craft essential understandings and guiding questions; use compelling instructional strategies that engage all learners; incorporate effective pre-, formative, and summative assessments into curriculum; use six-trait writing instruction and assessment; create unit or yearlong curriculum maps using state or Common Core Standards; and more.
In addition to Mapping Comprehensive Units to the ELA Common Core Standards, K-5, she has written Lesson Design for Differentiated Instruction, Grades 4-9 (2009), Curriculum Mapping: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Curriculum Year Overviews (2007), and Curriculum Design for Writing Instruction: Creating Standards-Based Lesson Plans and Rubrics (2005), and has coauthored the Staff Development Guide for the Parellel Curriculum (2009) with Cindy Strickland. In addition, she served as a differentiation consultant for Pearson Learning′s social studies textbook series for K-5 ((c) 2013).
