Into this idyllic existence comes Jai, a girl with a dark past. She has escaped her home after witnessing the killing of her beloved sister. Soon the dangers of the outside world follow Jai into the sacred space of the Abbey, and Maresi can no longer hide in books and words but must become one who acts.

Author Biography
María Turtschaninoff escribe cuentos de hadas desde los cinco años. Ha sido galardonada con el Premio Finlandia Junior, el Premio de Literatura Sueca YLE y el Premio de la Sociedad de Literatura Sueca, este último en dos ocasiones. También ha sido nominada al Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Entre sus autores favoritos, se encuentran Diana Wynne Jones, Lloyd Alexander, Philip Pullman, Ursula K. Le Guin y C. S. Lewis. Maria estudió ecología humana y trabaja a tiempo completo como escritora. Vive en Finlandia.
