This work contains abstracts of all extant marriage bonds issued in Chatham County, 1772-1868, when marriage bonds--as required for marriages--were discontinued. The abstracts are arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the groom, each entry providing the name of the bride, the bond date, and the names of the bondsmen. Also included are abstracts of the numerous marriages listed in the marriage register, 1851-1868.
