by Chögyam Trungpa (Author), Samuel Bercholz (Afterword by)

Set against the backdrop of Siddhartha's journey to becoming the Buddha, Meditation in Action conveys Trungpa Rinpoche's insightful teachings on mindfulness, self-examination, and the pursuit of enlightenment. This classic teaching challenges conventional spirituality, emphasizing personal experience and questioning societal norms to uncover deeper truths about existence and the self. He explores the six activities associated with meditation in action--generosity, discipline, patience, energy, clarity, and wisdom--revealing that through simple, direct experience, one can attain real wisdom: the ability to see clearly into situations and deal with them skillfully, without the self-consciousness connected with ego.

Trungpa Rinpoche's teachings advocate for an authentic engagement with life, encouraging readers to cultivate a panoramic awareness and a genuine understanding of the awakened state of mind. The book serves as a guide to unlocking personal growth and spiritual awakening, emphasizing the integration of mindfulness into everyday life. Trungpa Rinpoche's unique ability to communicate complex Buddhist concepts in relatable terms makes this book an essential read for anyone eager to explore the nuances and applicability of meditative practice.

Front Jacket

We learn that meditation is based on trying to see what is, rather than trying to achieve a higher state. It's not a retreat from the world but builds a foundation for compassion, awareness, and creativity in all aspects of a person's mind and behavior.
