Mga Tinuod ug Mga Bakak, or Truths and Lies, is a collection of short stories inspired by Ozamiz City, Philippines and the surrounding areas. The stories also draw heavily on the author's experiences as an American-Filipino trying to come to grips with leaving one life and entering another. Ranging from everyday life to legend, mythical to science-fiction, autobiographical to folklore, the collection is bound only by the islands of Mindanao and Negros where the stories grew. This collection may not be Filipino, but it is undeniably Ozamiznon. These stories are not true, but they are true to their home.
